Water Vapor

Food and water are bacis needs for all living things. We need to eat food and drink water every day. But have you helped your mother to cook or boil water? When James Watt was a child, he enjoyed watching his grandmother cook in the kitchen. Whenever the water was boiling, the lid of the pot kept flipping up and down whilst making noises. Watt felt that this was strange and asked his grandmother why this was happening.

His grandmother was too busy and answered simply, When water boils, this happens. Watt continued asking, Why is it then that when the water boils, this happens? Is there something forcing it up? His grandmother answered impatiently, Why do you keep asking me this?

Watt was not satisfied with the aanswer, but neither was he discouraged. He continued his observation and finally found that what caused the lid to flip was the water vapor that was generated inside the pot. The lid constantly flipped when the water vapor rose and the energy produced by the water vapor was not small. This observation of water vapor had inspired Watt to invent the steam engine, which became the main driving force of tje Industrial Revolution in Britain in the 18th century.

Watt was able to invent the steam engine not because of an extraordinary talent but as a result of his curiosity and diligence in learning!

Food for Thought :

Try observing every small matter mindfully in life, and have the courage to ask. These observations perhaps might become your inspiration for an invention in the future!
