Mark Zuckerberg was a student at
Harvard University, and was a computer programmer. He had developed others
networking websites targeting fellow students before working on his latest
website called The Facebook.
In 2004, The Facebook, was launched and its name originated from the
profiling of students and university staff in paper form. Over 1,200 Harvard
students joined within the first 24 hours of is launch and nearly half of the
university within a month, In time. The network quickly spread to many other
universities in the country. It then became facebook.com in 2005 and soon
everyone was talking about Facebook as the new in thing when it spread to the
general public in almost every country.
Users are allowed to add other users and socialize by chatting and leaving
comments on each others photos. Apart from the free usage of the network, there
is also a whole range of games that can be played on Facebook. It overtook all
other social networks and had over 1 billion users in 2013. Today, Facebook
earns billions of dollars in revenue from advertising and since the listing of
Facebok on the stock exchange, Zuckerberg has bocome a billionaire.
Food for Thought :
Common or traditional human
interaction can be reformed with many changes. Times change, and we must keep
changing along with it or risk being left behind.
