b) Plan the answers for all the questions.
- You have to start planning when your brain is still alert, not
exhausted. Avoid the temptation of answering one full question from the start
just because you know the answers for that. By writing down the plan and
important facts when you are still alert, you will get more information onto
the paper even though it may appear haphazard. Jot down points and ideas before
you start wroting the essay to be more organized in your answers.
- Once you have gone through all
the questions and have some form on answers to all the questions, you will feel
more confident in doing one question in detail at a time. You will not be
apprehensive as to whether you have any idea of what to write for the
subsequent question whilst doing the first one.
c) Have subheadings
- This will be easily seen by the
examiner correcting the paper and will
give an impression of good organization. It is a good way to show in the
examiner the topics that you know well.
d) Write legibly
- You will be surprised at how
much time you have if you are calm and have planned your essay well. The fact
that you can write clearly and legibly is good and will make you more
confident.
e) Make paragraphs to explain a core fact.
- A paragraph is a visual signal
to readers that the group of sentences is devoted to a sigle topic. Without
such visual groupings of sentences, examiners feel confronted with line after
line of text for which they cannot plan their reading time or their
concentration.
- Work that is divided into
paragraphs helps examiners anticipate how much information they will get on one
idea and help them scan quickly through
pages of material when they are searching for particular types of information.
